"In giving birth to our babies, we may find that we give birth to new possibilities within ourselves."

-- Jon Kabat-Zinn

BIRTH IS TRANSFORMATION. You are becoming a mother. You are becoming a family.

I believe that women are wild creatures, in every way. We are enigmas, strong and strategic, soft and nurturing. We are pieces of our ancestry woven with the uniqueness of the here and now. We are the source of Life — such a wild idea!

The work of a doula today has largely become a profession of pain management. Although this can be an important component of childbirth education, this is not how I view birth or the birthing woman…

I believe in the process of birth, and I trust women's bodies to do what needs to be done. We were built for this. It is an experience of great remembrance, and when allowed the opportunity to birth without unnecessary interference, our bodies will attune to what is required for that moment. I believe that every birth experience is valid, important, life changing.

I believe in substantial postpartum care — as a necessity, not a luxury. There is merit in the old adage, "It takes a village to raise a child." We were not designed to do this alone, and it is imperative to call upon your village. I believe in taking extra time for self care in postpartum and beyond, and we must learn to claim it for ourselves.

I believe in looking at Life and wellness holistically. Our cells are conscious beings that respond to love, stress, joy, anger, and everything in between. In order to identify the root cause of any issue, we must look at all aspects of our state of being: lifestyle, nutrition, activity level, stressors, and more. I believe many conditions can be improved or eliminated through proper nourishment for the body, mind, and spirit.

These are things I hold space for in my life. And when we work together, I will hold space for you. I’m proposing a new model of doula care, one in which I walk with you and your partner/family for the duration of your pregnancy and continue through the postpartum period. I am a Holistic Doula Companion, and although I will provide childbirth education, nutritional therapy, herbal support, practical tips and tools to support your process, and deep postpartum care, I offer a soul-level connection that I believe is missing from our society today. I will also connect you with a community of like-minded mothers, families, and wellness practitioners practicing various modalities who will likely become a thread in your tapestry of newfound parenthood. My hope is to inspire you to know your strength, to trust your body and your baby, and to believe in the power of transformation.

To honor your journey, I only work with up to four clients per year. Please contact me for availability and pricing.

postpartum care

Postpartum care is a necessity, not a luxury. This is a time of deep bonding, learning, and growth, exposing many facets of ourselves we didn't know were there. As an INNATE Postpartum Care Certified Provider, I believe in honoring the postpartum time with extended REST, bringing WARMTH to mother and baby, providing NOURISHMENT by way of healing foods, and recommending or providing BODY WORK to support overall healing and well being. I provide practical and emotional support for women and families through the early weeks and months of parenthood. My goal is to assist your growing family with offerings tailored to suit your unique needs.

To best support the needs of my growing family as well as my own health, I am not attending births at this time.
However, I will be offering pre- and post-birth services and education, in person and online, beginning Fall 2019!
Stay tuned for sliding-scale pricing and packages!
